Today I have a new makeup collection for you and this time we’re dealing with lipsticks. Now, I was never really into lipsticks. I would mostly just put on some lip balm and be good to go, except for when I wore red lipstick back when I was a country dancer (#funfactalert). That was mostly due to the fact that my lips are quite big, so if I put some kind of a bold colour on them, my lips would be all you can see on my face 😀 and nude lipsticks were not a thing yet, at least not in Croatia. My mom wore some brownish shades, so I would take her lipsticks from time to time, but I never got into it myself.
That is, up until now. I can’t say I’m crazy about lipsticks all of a sudden, but I’m saying that I can understand the hype. My collection is teeny-tiny, I will add some bits and bobs to it very soon, but you’ll see those reviewed by themselves. I just really wanted to share these with you 😀 I swatched every lipstick on my hand and on my lips, since we all have different lip colour, so that you can see what it looks like on the skin, too 🙂
Deborah Milano Rosetto Red Shine 03
I’m not sure which of these words is a shade name, and which is for the actual lipstick, but let’s stick with that. This lipstick is one of the two newest lipsticks in my collection. It’s really sheer, but it’s a really beautiful shade. It’s very wearable, even though it is in fact orange. It is probably the most comfortable lipstick I own.
MAC Cosmetics Myth (Satin finish)
This is the first MAC lipstick I got. My boyfriend actually bought it for me and it was either for Valentine’s day or our anniversary, not sure. But I was sooo excited to own my first MAC lipstick. It is a true nude, but it feels really nice on the lips. I do find it a little bit hard to wear, because it shows every crack and you can see pinkish inside of the lip (I have no idea if you know what I’m talking about, but let’s say you do). However, when you pair it with a nice bronzy lip gloss (like Hoola lip gloss by Benefit) it’s absolutely stunning!
MAC Cosmetics Brave (Satin finish)
This is a true your-lips-but-better shade. It’s still kind of in the nude zone, but it’s more pinky-purple, mauve maybe? I have no idea how to describe colours, we’ve established that by now. But it is one of my favourite lipsticks ever and I dread the day I run out of it (yes, I will repurchase it). If you want to own this lipstick, you can enter my Huge Celebration Giveaway, where I’m giving away this lipstick, so hurry and click here to enter!
MAC Cosmetics Modesty (Cremesheen finish)
This is actually quite similar to Brave, but it is more sheer, more glossy and a bit more of a brownish shade. It is the second of the two of my newest lipsticks. I haven’t worn it, except for swatching it, but I can say it’s gorgeous. I don’t know about it’s lasting time, but I will update you on that.
Essence in 60 Cutie Mac Cute
Ahhh what was I thinking?! I know you’re probably looking at the photo and you’re not sure what I’m talking about, but the photo doesn’t do it justice. At. All. It’s almost a 90s kind of pink lipstick with silver sheen in it. All in all, it’s terrible and I will probably never wear it again!
B.Pretty in 3 chai
This lipstick was my second take on finding a nude lipstick (after buying a Makeup Revolution one, which was nothing but a concealer- texture and colour wise. terrible) and I actually think I nailed it that time. I kind of forgot about that lipstick, I’m probably going to take it out a bit more often now. I’m not sure which countried have Bipa drugstores, but that’s their brand and it’s super cheap. I think this lipstick was $3 tops, but it’s very creamy and comfortable 🙂 Love a good find like that 🙂 And now that I look at the pics next to each other, I think this is a bit more wearable version of Myth by MAC. Do you agree?
MUA lipstick in Persian Rose
Now we go onto some more tricky ones. This is definitely the boldest and the brightest colour I own. No doubt. It really is fun, but you really have to be careful with it (BTW does anyone see how careful I am with lipsticks as opposed to eyeshadow? I can’t explain it either). It’s all about the skintone. This lipstick was actually given to me by a friend of mine, because she was too dark for it and it didn’t look good on her. I’m quite pale, so I can pull it off a bit easier, but I still have trouble wearing it for some reason. I will definitely try a bit harder. Maybe do a look with it for my blog(?).
Wet’n’Wild in Smokin’ hot pink
This is the first ‘bolder’ lipstick I bought myself and because I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and I have to say… it worked! I really enjoyed wearing this lipstick, especially in the fall. This was the first product I tried by Wet’n’Wild (they just recently came to Croatia) and I was quite impressed with the brand. The lipstick is quite long lasting, so I didn’t have to keep reapplying it all the time (which is one thing I hate about wearing lipstick the most). The colour was actually quite wearable, it’s comfortable on the lips. Overall, quite a good find.
Avon lipstick in Lava Love
My only red lipstick, back from my country dancing days. I never wore it since, but when I was swatching it, I realized that it was super creamy and it felt really nice on the lips. However, I hate eating and/or drinking with red lipstick. I think it’s gross and I absolutely dread it 😀 Not really sure why, but it grosses me out. I may wear it some time, but I really don’t think it looks that good on me (big lips and all that jazz).
QiBest Long lasting lip gloss in 22*
Leaving the best for last? Hmmmm not really 😀 This is actually the worst lipstick I ever owned and I don’t intend to wear it ever again. Why, you ask? First of all, it’s labelled as a gloss. And a long lasting one. I have only two problems with this statement. First one is that it definitely isn’t a gloss and the second one is, well, you guessed it, it’s NOT long lasting! This, as you can see, is the only liquid type of lipstick I own, and I sure as hell hope they’re not all like that (okay, I know they aren’t). I will just point you to this video of mine on Instagram (click here) and you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about. I don’t even know how to describe it, really, but just terrible. The video was made roughly 4 minutes after applying, sooo. Yeah. Go watch THE VIDEO. (You can also follow me on Instagram, I wouldn’t mind :D) It’s such a shame, since I really do love the colour.
And that’s it for this post! Do you own any of these lipsticks? Would you like to own any of them? (Maybe you can, if you enter my giveaway here). Which of these is your favourite?
Thank you for reading!
See you soon xx
