Hello everyone!
For the past I don’t know how many years, I’ve had this problem where my nails on thumbs would break on the sides and I had to cut them off or file them until they looked deformed. Whenever it happens, I don’t remember doing anything that would cause breakage, it seems to happen for no reason at all. So, since I can’t really prevent it, I decided to find a way to fix it when it happens.
My nail broke about two weeks ago, and since I was going to a wedding this weekend, I wanted to really look out for that nail and make a cute manicure. However, it kept getting worse and it was either fix it, or cut it. Here is what happened (and what happens every time my nails grow a bit):
Then I remembered seeing and pinning somewhere on Pinterest a trick for fixing a broken nail and decided to try it. All you need is an empty tea bag, a pair of scissors, nail art glue (I used superglue, which may not have been the best idea, but it worked) and a nail file:
All you need to do is cut a little piece of tea bag in a square shape that will go over the side of the nail where the broken part is, but not over the tip of the nail. Then take your glue, try to flaten the nail as much as possible and apply glue on top. Then put the tea bag you’ve cut out on the glue while it is still wet, and add some more glue, until every bit of the tea bag is glued on. Wait for it to dry completely and take your nail file and smooth everything out, including the part that goes over the side of the nail. When it’s nice and smooth, apply your base coat and nailpolish as usual.
Here is what it looked like with base coat on. The broken bit may be visible, but it won’t get stuck in your clothes or any other material and it will be nice and smooth. So after I’ve had it on my nails for a few days along with nail polish, and I saw it worked, I decided to do a manicure for the wedding I was going to on Saturday. Here is what I did:
And today, on Tuesday, it has been on my nails for over a week, and it’s still looking just fine. I am going to leave it on for as long as possible and see how it feels and how it behaves after some time. Here’s what it looks like right now:
And that’s it for today’s post. Have you tried this trick already? Did it work for you?
