Maybelline Brow Satin Review

Hello everyone!

Maybelline Brow Satin Review

As you may, or may not know, I haven’t really been into the whole eyebrow game until recently, and I decided it’s high time to step it up and buy a brow pencil, which I’ve never owned until now. I was going to get a Nyx one, but then I saw this one by Maybelline, and my friend said it was good, so I decided (since it’s cheaper, mostly) I should try it. I hauled it in one of my recent posts here.

I know I haven’t been posting for quite some time now. I promise I have a good excuse. Last week on Thursday was a holiday, so my boyfriend came to visit me over the weekend. He was here from Wednesday until Sunday and I really want to spend some quality time with him and not sit at my computer. The plan was to write a post on Sunday, but I got really sick (I still don’t know what caused it) and I could barely move from the stomack ache I had. I was on bread, apples, water and yoghurt for the past three days and I’m still not fully recovered, but I’m getting better and ready to get back to vlogging!

I have been testing this product for a while now and I think I’m ready to give you my honest opinion on it. Let’s see what’s it all about!

What they claim?

Well, they actually don’t claim a lot. They say it’s a smoothing brow pencil and filling powder and your brows are┬á supposed to look naturally full.

Does the product live up to its claims?

Mostly, yes. It is matte, it’s fairly mess free and you can fill in your brows fairly easily.

I got it in the shade dark blonde, and it’s actually perfect for my brows. I thought it was going to be a bit too light and too orange for me, but I actually love the way it looks on me.

Pros

Maybelline Brow Satin Review
Pencil side on the left; powder on the right

I love how easy it is to use, it has a really fine tip and the application is quite easy. I like that it comes with a powder on the other side, because that way it can really help you fill in your brows even if you’re not the most precise person ever with the pencil (me). Also, the powder is a very creamy formula and it puts everything in place very nicely. The colour is perfect for my brows, which are naturally really light and I have actually been loving my brows lately.

Cons

Well, of course there are cons… Since this is a brow pencil, and it’s supposed to be a wax brow pencil, I expected a much creamier formula than it is. I have to press a teeny tiny bit too hard in order to get it to work. BUT, as I press a bit harder than I would like, little flecks come off, which can get a little bit messy. I do have to use a spoolie in order to make it a bit nicer and not as messy. However, overall I think this works just fine.

How I use it?

I am by no means a professional when it comes to brows. I used to do my brows with my Essence brow kit and an angled brush and that was it. It was just to give my brows a bit more dimension. However, since I got this I used it every single time. I use the pencil first, filling in all the sparse areas, then I’m taking a spoolie and making it a bit nicer and neater, then taking a powder on the other side of the pencil and smoothing everything out. After that I use a brow gel (or two, I may have a review of two products side by side coming up soon. Can you guess which products they are?) to make my brows stay put all day (or night).

Final thoughts

Since I am not an expert on brows, I will definitely have to play with this product a lot more, and try some other ones to see how other products out there work, but so far I’m pretty happy with it and with how I’m discovering new products čśÇ
