Kailijumei Flower Lipstick Review

Hello everyone!

Kailijumei Flower Lipstick Review

Yes, I am aware that it’s been over a month since my last post. Yes, I’m aware that I said I would post more often after I got back from my vacation, but I do (I guess) have a good reason why I didn’t actually do it.

First, I finally finished and sent my first and my second version of my Ba thesis, which was huge! I’ve been writing it non stop for quite a while and I didn’t want any distractions 😀 Second of all, I took my last exam for this year today, so I had been studying for that, too.

And lastly, I enrolled in a course on Internet marketing, which is 2 or 3 times a week in the evening, so that’s taking up a lot of my time. However, I am doing this for the blog, since it will help me with SEO, as well as social media that I’m struggling with. Okay, I’m done with excuses. Let’s get started with today’s topic!

So, you’ve probably seen the hype that was around these jelly flower lipsticks by Kailijumei. I have, and I never really intended to buy them. I thought they looked cool, but I’ve spent a lot of money on the course I’m taking and I didn’t really think it was an item I couldn’t live without. However, the other day, a dear friend of mine brought this to me and said she didn’t really need it and if I wanted to, I could write a post about it. Obviously, I said yes 😀

What is this thing?

So, this is a Lipstick Bright Surplus Kailijumei Lipstick. It contains 3.8g, or .013oz of product and it is a product that is clear, infused with flowers and little gold flecks. It changes colour according to your body temperature, and everyone seems to nostalgically think about mood rings when you mention the colour changing thing. 😀 It comes in four different shades, and mine is in Flame red (you can see other ones here). The lipstick retails for $30, but they are $25 on the site at the moment. However, you can buy it here for a bit less 😉

What they claim?

“This product nourish and moisturize your lips, thus keeping your lips soft and moist, with fresh and pleasant fragrance. Besides, it can protect your lips from Oxidation factor (…). It contains toning formula which makes your lips distributed evenly. And keeps the lips from melting and fading for a whole day.”

We can see that their English isn’t the best, but oh, well 😀 Neither is mine.

Packaging

The packaging, besides the fact that there is a flower inside, is the coolest thing about this product. It’s pretty compact, even though it could be smaller considering the amount you get. You get a perfectly sized mirror on the tube, and it has a cool click mechanism which pushes the product out, but it doesn’t fall down. The actual lipstick container is a bit cheap, and sometimes a bit hard to roll for the lipstick to go up, but it’s not a big deal, really.

The colour and swatches

My lipstick is in Flame red, as I said earlier. However, I think that it couldn’t be further from red, to be honest 😀 It’s more of a pinkish toned berry colour (maybe?), I’m quite bad at describing colours, haha. Below you can see swatches of the lipstick on my lips, as well as on my hand, so you can decide for yourself.

My thoughts

I think that the concept of this lipstick is totally fun and unique. It’s so pretty I almost don’t want to use it. I do think it is moisturizing, but not for a long time, to be honest. After a while it just feels a little bit weird. Also, it is a bit of a stain, so it does really stay on the lips for a while.

The fragrance is nice, not too overwhelming, but the taste was weird the first time I tried it. Maybe it was the top layer on it, but now that I’m using it, it doesn’t taste that bad at all.

I am quite impressed with this product, to be honest, but I think I’m going to keep it, not use it and occasionally look at it 😀

Do you own any of the Kailijumei lipsticks? Would you consider buying it? What do you think of the concept?

Thank you for reading!

See you soon x
