I am so new to the whole liquid lipstick bandwagon. I know they have been around for a while now, but I just never got around to buying/testing them. This is mostly because they weren’t really available to me, but also, I don’t exactly wear lipsticks, or didn’t wear them until quite recently. I now own 3 liquid lipsticks (huge collection, right?), and I would like to share my thoughts on one of them.
What is it all about?
The packaging of this Manhattan Colour Splash Liquid Lip Tint says: Intensely coloured lip tint in a light texture. Non-Sticky. I got mine in the shade 64M Berlin Berry. As you can see, the packaging is nude, and I was actually looking for a nude like that at the time. Boy, was I wrong! And you would think the name would suggest that I was wrong, but I didn’t really pay attention to that. You will see what I’m talking about below.
Manhattan is, as far as I’m aware, no longer sold in Croatia. As of quite recently. So, I actually managed to get this product on one of the sales before it was all gone, and I got it for the most ridiculous price. Maybe even less than $2, but I don’t remember what the exact price was anymore.
I’ve managed to find this lipstick on Amazon here, and some other ones from the same line here. (Check out the end of the post for a discount code). The 64M does not look like the one on Amazon in real life, at least mine doesn’t. And it doesn’t look like that on the lips, either 😀
As I already said, the colour on the packaging is pretty deceiving. So that’s kind of a draw back, but not really. The product comes in a regular gloss-type of packaging with a doe foot (this was always a really strange name to me 😀 Am I the only one?) applicator. I would actually prefer for it to be a bit more precise, because this product requires precision and even application, but not a huge deal either. It’s 7ml, and it was made in Poland.
How the product works and swatches
So this is basically a lip stain, so I’m not sure liquid lipstick is the right way of calling it, but we’ll just go with it. As I said, the packaging is kind of deceiving in terms of colour, but it is that colour as soon as you apply it. However, in a matter of seconds, as it’s drying it’s turning more and more into a fairly bold, kind of vibrant berry colour. You can see the transformation below. I did try to film it, but since you can see I don’t have a clip, you can assume it went pretty bad.
Once the product dries down, it is NOT moving! It’s there for the whole night, and you don’t have to worry about a single thing. I just keep applying a bit of lip balm as the night progresses and my lips get dry. However, you do have to be careful while applying this.
As you apply this product, make sure the layer of it is completely even on your lips, and you don’t have more of the product around the edges, because those parts will be darker and more stained, and I ended up looking ridiculous on more than one occasion. Also, I do recommend exfoliating your lips before applying this, because it can cling to some drier parts.
I think this is a gorgeous product, if you can get your hands on it. It simply melts into your lips, and it literally becomes your lips. You will have a hard time removing it at the end of the night (I will insert a link to my Instagram video here, I finally managed to upload it!). I think that, for what it is, it is very high quality, especially for the price. It is absolutely comfortable, and totally amazing. I definitely do recommend that you try it out if you can. Let’s recap!
- Comfortable on the lips
- No need to reapply
- Long wearing
- Melts into your lips
- Deceiving colour on the packaging
- You have to be careful when applying it
- Not the best applicator
- Can cling to dry lips
Just to add this. This is what my hand looked like the day after. After washing my hair, washing my hands multiple times. And it’s still there. Can you see it?
And that’s pretty much it for this post! Have you ever tried this product, or any other Manhattan product? What is your favorite liquid lipstick? What is your favorite cheap liquid lipstick? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you for reading!
See you soon x
