Hello everyone!
Today I am here with a new makeup collection post. I haven’t done one of these for quite some time (here you can find my previous makeup collection posts), and highlighters are a thing at the moment, so I thought I would share my modest collection with you. I hope you enjoy! You can see these highlighters in action on Instagram here, in the exact same order!
1. Essence soo glow! highlighter
This is a cream to powder highlighter in the shade 10 look on the bright side. I’m pretty sure these are not available anymore. This is the first highlight I ever got, and I don’t think I knew how to use it when I got it 😀 I would use it in summer, but after a while I just stopped using it, or stopped using highlighter all together, until it became a huge trend and I got some new ones.
It’s actually quite chunky, but now that I actually tried it after a while, I kind of like it. A lot. I think it has a gorgeous sheen, but it does drag some of the foundation underneath it. The best way to apply it would be with your fingers. It was about $3, and even though it’s no longer available, I’m pretty sure you can find just as amazing (if not better) ones at the essence counter.
Catrice Deluxe Glow Highlighter
Well, this one is quite hard to talk about, to be honest. I love Catrice, but this highlighter is not really the best. It is in the shade 010 The Glowrious Three. It says it’s a ‘Velvety-soft highlighting powder in three luminous shades. Enriched with vitamin E, jojoba oil and fine light-reflecting pearls for a luxurious glow.’ It contains, as stated, 3 shades- rosé, champagne and bronze. However, I’m not sure that’s the correct order, but that’s how it says on the packaging.
Now, the first one (champagne I think) is not bad. It’s not glittery, and it’s very subtle. It just gives this nice sheen. However, it really emphasises the texture on my face. The other two don’t even really have a sheen. It’s so subtle, I wouldn’t even call it a highlighter. I do still wear this one occasionally, but I mix all three together and pack quite a lot to get a color pay off. You get 10g (0.35 oz) of product and the price is around $4-5.
ColourPop Smokin’ Whistles
This is the ColourPop Super Shock Cheek Pearlized highlighter. It comes with 4.2g (0.15 oz) of product, even though mine came with much less than that (read here why). This is a gorgeous highlighter for quite a lot of skintones. It’s not the lightest, but the color doesn’t really show that much, so the fair girls can wear it, as well as darker ones. It has a bronzy, but also pinky tint to it.
It is just a tiny bit glittery, but it looks absolutely gorgeous on the skin. This is the only highlighter (and face product for that matter) from ColourPop that I’ve tried, and I really enjoy it!
Essence midnight Masquerade liquid skin illuminator
That was a mouthful. So, last, but certainly not least (yes, I only have 4 highlighters, crazy, right?). This is by far my favorite one. It is also the cheapest, and also no longer available! Y U do dis essence? I bought it for less than $1, as it was going out of stock, but I really hope Essence come up with something similar soon! If they already have, do let me know!
So, this one is in the shade 01 sitting, waiting, witching. You’ve got to love Essence shade names. This is a liquid highlighter that can be used for both face and body. You get 15ml (0.5 fl.oz.), which will last you forever! It has a pink tint, but it’s the strongest, buildable, it doesn’t drag or remove your foundation, it can be applied with your finger, a brush or even a sponge (which is what I prefer). It’s almost metallic, and I always get compliments when I wear it. It melts into the rest of your makeup perfectly and never looks streaky! I wish I bought more of these, though.
And that’s it for this post! I hope you enjoyed, even though I don’t have that many of them.
Do you use highlighters? How many do you own? Which one is your favorite?
Thank you for reading!
See you soon x
