Disappointing Product Summer 2017 || Afrodita Body Yogurt

afrodita body yogurt

Hello everyone!

afrodita body yogurt

Sometimes, when you try new products, you come across a product you don’t enjoy. And if you’re not a beauty blogger, you can easily just say ‘crap, I shouldn’t have spent that much money on a crappy product’ and move on. However, if you’re a beauty blogger, you’re in a bad position. Firstly, you don’t want your readers to spend money on a bad product. Secondly, if it’s a brand you really like, you don’t want to trash-talk them. However, in today’s case, the first one won. So let’s see why this one didn’t work.

Maybe you already know this, maybe you don’t, but Afrodita is one of my favorite skin care brands. I’ve been using their products for a while now, but sometimes you find one that doesn’t work, and you want to warn others 😀

What is this product about?

afrodita body yogurt

Basically, this is an after sun product, which is meant to nourish and hydrate your skin after being exposed to the sun and cool you while doing so.

body yogurt description

It contains coconut water, shea butter and rose hip oil, which is rich in vitamin E. All of this sounded so good when I first saw it on one of Croatian blogger’s Facebook. I had to have it. So, while I was on my vacation, I talked my boyfriend into walking 3-4 km to the nearest drugstore, in order to buy this.

Ingredients
I was so happy to have found it, I’ve missed alcohol in the ingredients list

I was a bit puzzled by the price, which was around $10, because they are usually more affordable than that. However, I decided I still have to have it, and bought it even though there were some cheaper ones next to it. It has coconut water, it has to be amazing.

So, what went down?

Well, I couldn’t wait to open it until we get home. So, we sat down for some hamburgers, and I started opening it. The first thing I noticed, there was no protection between the product and the lid. A foil would be appreciated, so I know no one had their fingers in it.

Secondly, as soon as I sniffed it, I knew that was not a natural coconut scent. If you’ve ever smelled coconut oil, you’d recognize a fake scent a mile away. This was your regular sun protection fake coconut scent, and no one can tell me otherwise.

consistency
Cool consistency

Well, when I got past those two things and got home, I decided to finally apply this on my skin. The cooling was there, and I appreciated it.

The texture is really cool. It’s kind of jelly-like, but it absorbs really fast, so I really enjoyed this part.

And now back to the bad part. The thing that made me decide that this was THE disappointing product of this summer is the effect I had after using it. It actually dried my skin so much, that it started flaking. I didn’t think it was because of this product at first, but I stopped using it to test it. After I started using it again a few days later, my skin was flaking so bad, I still can’t get it back to normal. Photo evidence below:

I thought maybe the problem was in me, and the product is actually amazing, but just doesn’t work for me. However, after talking to a friend, I realized she had the same problem. Plus, she made her boyfriend apply it, too, and he had the exact same problem with this skin afterwards, as well!

Conclusion

Well, I am actually not sure how to conclude this one. I am so sorry it didn’t work for me, because I was really excited to nourish my skin after all the sun and salt. Luckily, I have more products I can use for that, so my skin didn’t suffer too much.

The consequences of this product are still here, and I’m still trying to fix them. Hopefully it won’t take too much.

And that’s it for this post! Do you use any after sun products? Which one is your favorite? Have you been on a vacation?

Thank you for reading!

See you soon x
