summer favorites

Can you believe it’s October already? I am known for being a huge summer lover, so the cold weather has been quite depressing for me. However, I have a ton to look forward to and a ton of projects to work on, so I’m hoping that will definitely cheer me up. Let me just mention one of them, which is my new Instagram profile, @beautypeptalk, which I am really excited for, so I would love it if you could check it out and give me a follow!

But now, let’s get onto the summer favorites!

So, in this post, I am going to show you some of the products I couldn’t live without (or the ones that were simply fun) during the summer! Let’s start with skincare and we’ll move our way to make up!

Body and hair

body and hair

We all know the importance of SPF. However, I decided to go to the beach after 5 pm and to keep away from the sun as much as possible, so I used SPF 15 by AVON*. I also reapplied when I felt it was needed. This is a sun spray, which feels very light and moisturizing on the skin, and I will definitely keep using it.

After being in the sun and having salt on your body, a shower feels even better! And I have already told you that I love shower oils in the summer! They are very nourishing, they help revitalize my skin after being exposed to sun and salt, and they feel amazing. I discovered one by Dove, that contains argan oil, and I was happy to learn not all oils have to be expensive.

Of course, we all have to moisturize in the summer, and it feels especially good after getting out of the shower. So, this year I bought this after-sun body yoghurt by a Croatian brand Biobaza. It feels very nice and fresh on the skin, and I think it really helped my skin!

I already talked about this next product on Instagram. It is Nivea Hairmilk Natural shine smoothing mist. It is meant for dull, tired, straight hair, and it is actually a leave-in conditioner. I actually bought it while I was on my vacation, and couldn’t help but try it on right away! When I sprayed it on my salty hair, it immediately became softer and a lot nicer to the touch, so I knew immediately I would fall in love with it. I mostly use it on wet hair, but if my hair needs a little pick-me-up, I will use it on dry hair, as well!

Face

Just like your body, your face needs some extra attention during the summer, as well.

I got this Balea Beauty Effect day cream* as PR from DM drugstore, and thought it would be great for winter, because it does contain some hyaluronic acid. However, this cream is so light and so refreshing, that it was actually perfect for the summer. Plus, it contains SPF 15, which is always nice. It made my skin looking glowy and healthy and I loved using it on its own, with just a little bit of highlighter and some mascara.

Another face cream I used this summer is the one by Olival, another Croatian brand. I think this cream was an amazing protection for my skin, since it does have SPF 30, and I used it mostly during the day, if I had to go out in the sun. My face was quite lighter than the rest of my body, and I firmly believe this was the reason. However, it is quite heavy, and while I didn’t break out, my face would get quite sweaty underneath. So, I don’t think this is the best for acne-prone skin.

Lastly is a mask that a dear friend of mine got me a sample of. It is the Kiehl’s cilantro & orange extract pollutant defending masque. This actually lasts for quite some time, and I used it at least four times, and still have some left. This is great for when your skin feels a bit dull, a bit dry and needs a pick-me-up. I love using it in the evening as a nice pampering session before going to bed!

Face mists

Face mists are definitely my must-haves for summer, as well as year-round. Especially if you put them in the fridge, they are so refreshing, cooling and feel amazing on those hot summer days.

I have a few to show you, some of which you may have already seen on my blog or Instagram.

L’Occitane Aqua Reotier was also a gift from a friend, and this is one of my favorites. It is really refreshing, has a nice sprayer and smells divine.

Another L’Occitane is from the Immortelle line, which has to be my favorite line they have ever made. I love the smell of the Immortelle plant, and this mist smells so spa-like, it’s incredible. I have a tiny bit left, and am saving it for some special occasion. 😀

Alverde mist with wild rose is probably my least favorite one, probably because of the scent, but I don’t think it’s as moisturizing as the rest of them either. I am still using it, and will use it up, for sure, but there are some better ones out there.

Lastly, we have a Balea water spray with Lime and Basil. This is the cheapest one, for sure, but is amazing for every day and keeping it in the fridge. I used it a lot this summer and really enjoyed it!

Eyeshadow palette

I think everyone saw this one coming. I ordered the BH Cosmetics Weekend Festival palette at the beginning of the summer. As you probably know, I am the colorful makeup type. So, this palette was dreamy! All the bright and vibrant colors simply called to me, and I had to have it.

Long story short, it did not disappoint me, and I already have a review with swatches on my blog, in case you’ve missed it. So check out that post and we’ll move to the next set of products!

Eyes

I have to make something clear, I wore makeup once or twice during the three weeks I was on my vacation at the sea side. However, I did wear it every weekend before going there, so these are the products I was mostly gravitating towards.

Trend It Up! Pop Lashes kohl mascara* is also a PR sample, which I got from DM drugstore. I have to say, I think this is probably the best drugstore mascara that I’ve tried so far. It separates the lashes very nicely, but adds volume and length. If you have a DM where you live, definitely check it out. I also used L’Oreal Paradise Extatic, but I think I definitely prefer this one.

Maybelline Tattoo Brow is a product that made quite the commotion in Croatia. Some people loved it and raved about it, while others hated it. I have to say, I definitely love it! It makes brow shaping and filling so effortless, it’s easy, and it lasts or a few days. My brows are very light, so I look weird without any brow products when I’m wearing makeup, but this makes it so much easier than using a pencil. Some people noticed yellow pigment after washing their face peeking through, but I didn’t notice it quite as much. If you’d like to see a full review of this product, let me know in the comments.

When I don’t have the time to wait for Tattoo Brow to dry, or I forgot to apply it on time, I always use this Wet’n’Wild Coloricon Brow Pencil in Brunettes Do It Better. I love the fact that it has a spoolie on the other end! However, this pencil is really soft, and it’s quite difficult to do your brows using it directly without having harsh lines. That is why I love using it with an angled brush, and that way I think it’s perfect!

Lastly, Misslyn Intense color liners. These are pencil liners that can be used either on your eyelids or your waterline. They are super soft, super pigmented and in the most stunning colors. I think they are amazing for making every makeup look even better.

Face

You probably know that Catrice foundation and concealer are my holy grail. However, there are some days when I have to wear makeup, but my bold looks aren’t really suitable for daily situations (like work). Those are the days when I use my Balea day cream with SPF 15, and these two products.

highlight blush

The first one is Wet’n’Wild megaglo highlighting powder in Precious Petals (check out my highlighters collection). Everyone loves it, everyone talks about it. I even learned from my Insta friend Makeupby_lu about a little trick with using it. I simply wet my brush with a face mist or a setting spray before applying it, and it looks even more stunning (for evening looks, though :D).

Another one is a blush by Alverde cosmetics in the shade 01 Apricot*. This is a very subtle, peachy pink blush that would probably suit most skin tones. It adds some nice dimension to your face without being too much.

Lips

I tried to use as many different lipsticks as I could, but somehow I gravitated towards these two the most. I really enjoy every aspect of both of them.

Halloween Vinyl Photo Backdrops (backdrop roll)

The first one is Magic Wand by Colourpop. It is their Ultra Satin Lip, and it’s the most beautiful nude shade that is not too light or too dark for my skin. I think it suits me very nicely. You can see it used in a look here. What’s more is that these lipsticks last through anything on my lips, and I actually really enjoy how they feel. I really hope Colourpop comes to Europe soon so I can buy it again, because I’m not going through that again.

The next one is MAC lipstick in Modesty, which is a cremesheen finish. It is a nude color, but a bit on the brown side, it’s not drying and it’s a bit shiny on the lips. I really enjoy this one, as well as their satin lipsticks!

And that’s it for this post! Which products are your favorites for the summer? Which ones you simply cannot live without? Have you tried any of these? Let me know!
